Just a couple of photos of an orange and black Tele type guitar build of mine. The black paint is metallic and the orange is a pearl, all sealed in with a shiny clearcoat. as you can see, I changed my mind on the pickguard.
I’m working on a Barncaster at the moment, made out of scrap wood, pallets to be exact. It’s not going to be fancy and shiny but it will be rustic and sound good, I hope! 😂 I will be getting the wood stains out for some fun and with these vintage style pickups, it will be great for playing old school rock and blues.
I’ve laminated some thicker peices together for the main part of the body and then laminated some thinner pallet planks on for the top. Whilst the glue was drying I put loads of screws in the boards to hold it all in place. The holes will add to the character and I’m still undecided as to whether I should leave them in or now, that is character too. hmmmmm…….
When I was 17, for my final high school project, I decided to make an Ibanez FRM Replica. I was massively inspired by Paul Gilbert at the time, and Ibanez just brought out his new signature model. At 17, I was in no position to buy one, so I put my heart and soul into making one! It was an incredibly fun project and I learnt so much about guitar building. I would do it all over again if I had the time and tools these days
My builds tend to be strat or tele variants. I’m just starting on a new build with a strat body, roasted maple neck, and HSH configuration with Seymour-Duncan P-Rails in the bridge and neck, and a virtual rail in the middle position. Just waiting for the last few parts to arrive.
